Colossians 3:17
When people think of ministry
doing something in the church or for the church usually comes to mind. If you
spend your time cleaning, teaching Sunday school, volunteering for VBS, or any
event in or presented by the church then you’ve given enough.
Before I go on I want to say there is nothing wrong
with these things the church needs people to carry on God’s message and it
takes a body of a believers doing their part to make things happen. However, we
are mistaken when we think ministry stops at the church door or that being in
missions is the only way God uses us.
The scripture says do ALL in the
name of Jesus. Not just Pastor’s, Sunday school teacher’s and church helper’s.
Ministry should be how we live. Our jobs regardless what it is should be done
as if we are working for Him. Everything
we do is for Him. How we speak, how we treat others, how we do whatever
position we hold, from the retail clerk in a store to a school teacher. God
doesn’t see status He looks for obedience. He doesn’t see a Pastor more
important then the person sitting in the pew. All are called to spread the news.
We are all expected to learn grow and pass on what we know leaving the results
to God. He needs to be included in every moment, every thought every decision
in our lives. This applies to everyone.
Its easy to forget that we
all have a place in His plans when we get caught up in the busyness of life,
forgetting He wants us to bring Him along with us to shine for Him to display
His glory. Max Lucado says or probably wrote -We exist to exhibit Gods Glory.
We matter to Him period there
things He asks is for us to believe, accept His love and live in obedience.
